CELLISTA – TRANSFIGURATIONS

This performance-art piece combines film, dance, music and real narratives from the artistic community to critique and comment on the fate of creatives in a rapidly gentrifying world.
Transfigurations encapsulates the experiences of those around Cellista in the Bay Area. Those stories reach far beyond her immediate home and in touring Transfigurations, she shares the culmination and merging of the worlds around her. It is a mix of history and despair that is encapsulated by music at its core and incoporates dance work from Bay Area artists and a full-length film created by filmmaker Jennifer Gigantino, live scored by Cellista.

ed American cellist and the artistic director of the performing arts company Juxtapositions. She is known for her multidisciplinary installations which involve collaborations with artists across various media, and playing live performances in unconventional spaces that incorporate elements of classical music, theater, improvisation and visual art across a range of genres including pop, hip-hop, classical and more. These performances often feature a carbon fiber cello and loop station.
